PIPS Project Title: Marketing Services Placement at Promega UK

This three-month placement offered Emily the opportunity to explore how scientific expertise can be applied in a commercial marketing environment. Working within the Marketing Services team, Emily gained experience in science communication, digital marketing, and content development—key skills for career paths beyond the bench.

At Promega UK Emily worked alongside the marketing services team working on data cleansing, organising and producing content for a tiktok channel. During this placement Emily learned about how a company works, and how important a marketing team is to a company’s success. She developed valuable skills such as communication, team work, creativity, organisational skills and time management so that she could work well with the team to reach deadlines. Emily’s time at Promega allowed her to see how many possible career options there are post PhD, which has opened her eyes to the opportunities that lay ahead.
