PIPS Host Organization: Growing Kent and Medway
PIPS Project Title: Outcome Analysis of Grant funded projects
Growing Kent and Medway support horticultural and plant-based businesses of any size; whether they simply have an idea for a new product, or run a large multinational company. They bring together industry, scientists, technologies and entrepreneurs to stimulate innovation. They invest in new research facilities and technical expertise, business support, and grant funding to help business to grow.
The main part of Dyuti’s project involved looking at the different projects funded by the GKM and listing their outcomes. She then worked with professionals from Kent Business School, and mapped the different projects according to their distribution in various parts of the food chain. The projects were then ranked based on several factors to isolate well-performing projects and identify factors that contributed towards the performance of a project. In addition, she worked on listing the social value commitments performed by each project as a part of the grant awarded. The social values were evaluated on several parameters were visualised to see how the projects had done on this aspect. Dyuti also worked a bit on the company CRM which included adding closure reports to projects, removing company duplicates, and general tidying up of data.
Through this experience, Dyuti reported developing her organisational and communication skills. It also gave her valuable insight into working in industry, which she believes will help her make more informed decisions about future career opportunities.
